Volunteer at SCS
Programs
Lend a hand. Take the lead. Pitch in. Give Back. No matter what you call it, volunteering is good for our community - and good for you.If you have time, spend it wisely as an SCS volunteer. SCS recognizes that you have the skills, experience and motivation that can be put to good use right now.
A variety of volunteer roles at numerous Delaware County Locations. Volunteers enrich the lives of older adults by serving in a range of roles at sites throughout Delaware County. Here are some examples:
- In SCS' four nationally accredited Senior Centers:
Volunteers serve meals, guide programs, lead book clubs, tend gardens, welcome new members, coordinate trips, and host fund-raising events.
- In libraries, faith-based agencies, community centers and other community sites:
Volunteers counsel individuals about health insurance benefits, teach language, computer and art classes, and use memory kits to reminisce with older adults.
- In the homes of Delaware County's elderly:
Volunteers deliver nutritious meals and they lift spirits through engaging conversation, crafts and hobbies. Volunteers pair with their trained pets to visit isolated elderly, who welcome the volunteer's "furry friend."
- In the volunteer's home:
Volunteers help manage and update the SCS website, use graphic design skills to create brochures, write articles for the SCS newsletters and local papers and analyze feedback from SCS program participants to enrich programs - all from their home, with occasional trips to an SCS Center.
