Senior Community Services
Senior Support Coalition

The SSC urges the Administration and the Legislature to stop shifting funds from the Lottery revenues to institutional care and other general fund expenses to support seniors living at home.

The Senior Support Coalition is a voluntary organization of community based, in-home, long term care associations, seniors, caregivers, and consumer advocates working toward a pair of common and important goals:

Preserving the dignity of Pennsylvania's older residents by providing them with choices as to where they age and ensuring that they have the necessary supports to remain within their own homes in their community;

Relieving the Pennsylvania taxpayer of senior care costs by preserving the use of Lottery monies for home based community and in home care services. The Lottery legislation was initially enacted in 1972 for the express purpose of helping seniors to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. The Senior Support Coalition believes that purpose should be maintained and urges the Administration and the Legislature to stop shifting funds from the Lottery revenues to institutional care and other general fund expenses.
